I am a London based artist making ceramic sculptural vessels.
My ceramic artworks are sculptural vessels which reference the practice of drawing and explore the possibilities of making marks with and on clay.
I have always made drawings and I am fascinated by the apparent simplicity of drawing and yet the vast range of outcomes possible. When working in clay I want to bring together drawing and sculpture to make a vessel that does not have an apparent practical use.
Using hand-building and throwing, I employ whatever technique enables me to achieve my aim. Being prepared to make changes at any time in the building process, I often cut into the structure and rearrange it. This results in exciting and unplanned outcomes.
I studied Fine Art Sculpture at the Royal College of Art but my love of clay started many years before that when, as a teenager, I attended classes in the clay studios at Camden Arts Centre. When at the RCA, despite being signed up for sculpture, I was drawn to the ceramics department and managed to persuade the tutors to give me a space to work.
After graduating, whilst having worked in a range of creative industries, including as a wedding cake designer, art gallery administrator, and educator, I have always continued to make art.
I am delighted to be using clay again and to present my current work. Pots are priced between £75 and £175, please contact for details about payment and delivery/collection.
